Though products like hand dipped candles, baskets and brooms can be easily mass-produced today, there is immense value in ensuring the traditional handmade crafting skills behind them are not lost to time. Practices like candle dipping, basket weaving and broom making represent connections to our past and to the ingenuity of our ancestors who crafted necessary household items from available natural materials.

As part of THE ARTS & CRAFTS MOVEMENT SERIES Stephanie Brown of Studio 167 will teach you the ins and outs on how to create your own beautiful hand dipped beeswax taper candles, as well as tiny birthday candles as you join us for an immersive candle making experience.

During this workshop, our skilled instructor will guide you step-by-step through the satisfying process of repeatedly dipping wicks into melted beeswax to build up taper candles one layer at a time.

You'll get hands-on practice with:

  • Preparing candle wicks

  • Melting and preparing beeswax

  • Dipping techniques

  • Finishing and shaping

By the end of the workshop, you'll walk away with unique taper candles you crafted yourself. Makes for a thoughtful gift or eco-friendly lighting in your own home.

We provide all materials and equipment needed. Just bring your creativity!

We’re getting into it on Sunday, February 25th from 1 - 3 PM at THE JOINT, 619 Marin Street in Old Town Vallejo.
